THE HAMPTONS IS NOW IN FULL PARTY SWING

****
THE HAMPTONS GOSSIP
****

Patti Lupone

The star studded Hamptons is the place to be in the summer time. From Southampton to Easthampton, from Amagansett to Water Mill, the excitement never stops. One of our favorite events every year is the Halsey House party. We meet so many great people there and we learn so much about Hamptons history. From our favorite Brunch watering hole Fellinghams to our late nights at The Drivers Seat, we always feel so relaxed.

KEVIN BERLIN TO SHOW AT ARTHAMPTONS

Lion Tamer #1 BY Kevin Berlin

Tigers (Panthera tigris) are the largest species of big cat and although they have a fairly broad distribution across east and southeast Asia, over the past 25 years their range has declined by over 50%. The Born Free Foundation, one of the high profile big cat conservation organisations, estimates there are fewer than 3,500 tigers remaining in the wild. It is also estimated that there were 100,000 tigers a century ago and this dramatic decline has sparked scepticism about the effectiveness and impact of tiger conservation efforts.

The biggest threat to tigers, like so many endangered species, is humans, with habitat destruction and poaching causing most concern. Current conservation efforts include the creation of tiger sanctuaries, breeding programmes and safeguarding national parks from poachers and further habitat loss. But, is this enough? Conserving endangered species is complicated by a combination of socio-economic, political, cultural and financial factors, which means that implementing effective conservation strategies is extremely problematic and explains why current efforts are hampered. There is no easy answer, but this is just the kind of debate confronted by zoology students at UCL and we hope their time with us inspires them to take up the challenge and consider ways that they can best contribute to tackling global issues such as biodiversity loss.
