Kate Middleton was out and about over the weekend supporting various causes and charities around London — a royal role that is becoming part of her daily routine.
The other day, the Duchess of Cambridge was supporting a children’s charity by participating in camping activities.
On Friday night, she attended a charity theater night for 150 kids from one of her personal charities, The Art Room.
There’s still the traditional pomp and circumstance of this Jubilee year to be dealt with, including events like Saturday’s Trooping the Colour, where Kate, her husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry were all on show.
But it’s the charity work of the young royals that’s beginning to catch the eye.
All three show an awareness of those less fortunate than themselves, which is relevant in these difficult economic times, and something the two princes seem to have inherited from their mother, Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
“She very much wanted to take us away from the royal aspects of life … and get us to see the rawness of life,” Prince William said in an earlier interview. “One of the biggest lessons I learned is just how lucky and privileged so many of us are, particularly myself in the conditions that I live and the lifestyle I lead.”
Both princes have been keen to display their sense of duty with their military careers. And with Prince Harry’s high profile work with kids in Africa, and William’s involvement with the homeless, the echoes of Diana’s legacy are easy to see.
Now Kate is the latest recruit to this generation of royalty embracing charity work.
“I would say that William, Kate and Harry together are like the three musketeers. They’re invincible,” British royals expert Victoria Arbiter said.
