KENNETH COLE JOINS HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN

****
Human Rights Campaign and Kenneth Cole
Join to Help Elect Equality
****

 Kenneth Cole

Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, unveiled its latest collaboration with fashion designer and longtime activist Kenneth Cole as part of the designer’s AWEARNESS campaign. This collaboration aims to encourage Americans to support LGBT equality at the polls this election cycle.

"As Americans, our vote is our voice,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. "By lending his voice and retail prowess to the fight for LGBT equality, Kenneth Cole is not only sparking a conversation about increased voter participation, but also reminding Americans that equality is always in style. We are grateful for Kenneth Cole’s continued support for the LGBT community and his commitment to full equality in America.”

“Our brand’s message next season is a call to action to, ‘wear your voice,’ said Kenneth Cole. “In support of HRC, we ask: ‘where’s your voice?’”

Public support for LGBT equality is at an all-time high in America, yet many elected officials have yet to fully embrace and advocate for fairness and equality for LGBT people. This is the fourth collaboration between HRC and Kenneth Cole. One-hundred percent of the net-proceeds from the sale of this limited-edition T-shirt will be donated to HRC. “Vote Equality” signage will appear in all 97 of the Kenneth Cole retail and outlet stores nationwide during the month of June. In addition, Kenneth Cole stores in three key markets will host events benefiting HRC on June 23rd from 4-6pm, with 20 percent of the night’s proceeds going to HRC.

Events will take place at the following retail locations:

NYC, Fifth Ave Store

Philadelphia, Walnut Street

San Francisco, San Francisco Centre

Retailing for $35, the limited-edition t-shirt comes in sizes XS-2X and will be available at HRC Stores in Provincetown, MA; San Francisco, CA; Washington, D.C.; and shop.hrc.org.

Part of HRC's designer collaboration series, Kenneth Cole joins a long list of designers including Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Alex & Chloe, Nike and American Apparel all committed to pushing equality and fashion forward.

HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN AND MARC JACOBS

 Marc Jacobs Collection

Do you believe that all Fathers should be honored & celebrated on Father’s Day? We do.

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, would like to introduce you to our latest collaboration with openly gay designer and longtime activist Marc Jacobs in recognition of families with two Dads. Celebrated each year on the third Sunday of June, Father’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate ALL fathers. Little Marc Jacobs, the designer’s highly successful children’s line, is proud to embrace the diversity of American families - including those families with two dads.

Inspired by Marc Jacobs International President and gay dad Robert Duffy, these innovative and politically forward infant and toddler t-shirts feature a clever re-wording of the familiar saying: “If Dad says no, ask Dad.”

In every corner of our nation, there are loving, committed same-sex couples raising children or hoping to do so one day. While a growing number of states provide some form of legal recognition for their relationships – and the associated rights, benefits and protections critical to building safe and strong families – in most places in the United States, lesbian and gay couples are treated as legal strangers, to each other and in many cases to the children they are raising.

Constructed of 100 percent organic cotton and garment washed for a super soft feel, these infant and toddler t-shirts are available in unisex sizes 6-12M, 12-18M, 2T and 4T. With only 200 produced, the limited-edition collaboration will be sold exclusive at HRC Stores in Provincetown, MA; San Francisco, CA; Palm Springs, CA; Washington, D.C.; online at shop.hrc.org and in the Little Marc Jacobs store in NYC. Retailing for $35, 100 percent of net proceeds will go toward HRC's fight for LGBT equality.

Usain Bolt's Interracial Relationship Causes Criticism That Is Undeserved

Lubica Slovak and Usain Bolt

There has been a bit of controversy over the past week, regarding black Jamaican Olympic gold medalist, Usain Bolt, 24, dating white fashion designer, Lubica Slovak, 28. The couple have been seeing each other for the past six months and some do not like it, due to the two coming from different races.

At the end of the day, it is their business whom they date and no one should meddle in that on the basis of color. People need to look at a person's heart and how they treat others, not their skin color or country of origin. That is what's most important - finding an honest, decent human being you are happy and comfortable with.

Lubica Slovak and Usain Bolt

One of my friends in Jamaica met Usain and had nothing but good things to say about him. He has done work for charity to benefit the less fortunate. He has also dated dark skinned black women, light skinned black women and a mixed raced woman. He has not shunned his culture or race. If he chooses to date a white woman, that's his business. Leave him and others alone that choose to date or marry outside their race. God doesn't care about color and neither should we.

NEW FALL CHRISTOPHER FISCHER COLLECTION

****
TIMES SQUARE GOSSIP FASHION
****

Christopher Fischer

For Fall 2012, the Christopher Fischer Cashmere collection has taken a totally unique and new creative direction. The collection literally mixes it up this season!

Designer Christopher Fischer was inspired by the mixed materials of modern architectural structures. Using panels knitted in various textures, materials and gauges, or inserts using woven silk materials, all asymmetrically inset on the bias into the sweaters, Christopher Fischer Fall 2012 is unlike any other cashmere collection and sets a new direction and genre to cashmere sweaters.

Always a leader in creativity, this season’s “hi-low” cuts and profiles, mixed media of knit textures and materials and innovative use of magnets, wraps and buckles as closures, allow pieces to be styled in multiple ways. These elements combine to form a collection that sets a new benchmark in knitwear design that others will be sure to follow.

“Cashmere sweaters seem to have become all too predictable and repetitive, so I wanted this collection to be totally fresh and unique, and to make a very new statement to the fashion buyer and fashion consumer alike,” says Fischer. “By mixing materials and ribbing with asymmetrical cuts in unexpected and novel ways, yet remaining totally easy, luxe and wearable, I was able to accomplish my goal.”

The collection colors focus on platinum's to deep greys, natural tones to rich browns, accented by purples and black, which all accentuate the structural and slouchy pieces. This season’s hottest bright hues also make a strong statement in this collection, with bright pinks, venetian red and magenta, as well as striking jewel like sapphire blue and emerald green. In addition, Fischer has used metallic foil over the fabrics giving them a copper, gold and silver sheen.

The Christopher Fischer Cashmere collection has a loyal and dedicated following of “in the know” fashionistas and celebrities, including Claire Danes, Mariska Hargitay, Renee Zellweger, Liv Tyler, Emma Watson, to name a just few.

THE BOOK OF LOST FRAGRANCES BY M.J. ROSE

****
TIMES SQUARE GOSSIP BOOKS
****

The Book Of Lost Fragrances

M.J. Rose is a Renaissance woman. She is a respected journalist and the internationally bestselling author of twelve highly acclaimed novels. She is the founder of AuthorBuzz, the first marketing firm for authors and one of the founding board members of International Thriller Writers. Rose has also co-founded Peroozal.com and the popular website BookTrib.com. She has an enduring passion for art, mythology and esoterica, as evidenced her Museum of Mysteries blog. In essence, M.J. Rose is a force to be reckoned with.

Rose is also an impeccable researcher, often blending actual history into her spellbinding storylines. And her latest, The Book of Lost Fragrances (Atria Books), an engrossing thriller that weaves together reincarnation, ancient Egypt, international intrigue, and a lost book of fragrances, is no exception. It’s already been chosen as an Indie Next Pick for March and was recently named one of Publishers Weekly’s Top Ten Mysteries and Thrillers. Rose will also be part of Atria Great Mystery Bus Tour—In April, Atria Books will send four authors from three different countries to twelve cities.

In preparation for writing The Book of Lost Fragrances, Rose spent more than two and half years researching ancient treatises on perfumery and alchemy, traveling to flower farms and conventions, as well as studying with fragrance architects, famous “noses,” and niche perfumers. Based on that research, Rose provides exclusive author notes in The Book of Lost Fragrances, as well a comprehensive glossary that offers factual information about some of the topics, locations, theories and legends she vividly weaves into her plot.

While writing, to remain in the world of the novel, she burned incense and her favorite candles created by Frederick Bouchardy under the brand name JOYA. When the novel was finished she searched out Bouchardy to give him a copy of the yet to be published novel. Bouchardy was instantly intrigued by her book—first, as a reader, he said he was taken with the mystery and romance of the story. In Rose’s tale, scent plays a strong role as it pertains to memory. Bouchardy, who creates using oils and other classic ingredients, said this notion spoke to him as a designer and producer of fragrances. The ancient fictional fragrance at the heart of Rose’s novel is called Âmes Soeurs, which means “Soul Mates” in French. Inspired by the book, Bouchardy has brought the perfume to life with his version: Âmes Soeurs, The Scent of Soul Mates. Bouchardy interpreted Rose’s imagined fragrance with notes of Frankincense, Myrrh, Orange Blossom, and Jasmine.

It Wasn’t Always Easy—getting published has been an adventure for M.J. Rose who self-published her first novel, Lip Service late in 1998 after several traditional publishers didn't know how to position or market it since it didn't fit into any one genre. Frustrated, but curious and convinced that because of her advertising background she could figure out the marketing, Rose set up a web site where readers could download her book for $9.95 and began to seriously market the novel on the Internet. After selling over 2,500 copies (in both electronic and trade paper format) Lip Service became the first e-book and the first self-published novel discovered online. It was chosen by the Literary Guild/Doubleday Book Club and published by a mainstream New York publishing house. The rest, as they say, is history…

About The Book of Lost Fragrances:

Jac L'Etoile has always been haunted by the past, her memories infused with the exotic scents that she grew up surrounded by as the heir to a storied French perfume company. In order to flee the pain of those remembrances--and of her mother's suicide--she moved to America.

Now, fourteen years later she and her brother have inherited the company along with its financial problems. But when Robbie hints at an earth-shattering discovery in the family archives and then suddenly goes missing--leaving a dead body in his wake--Jac is plunged into a world she thought she'd left behind.

Back in Paris to investigate her brother's disappearance, Jac becomes haunted by the legend the House of L'Etoile has been espousing since 1799. Is there a scent that can unlock the mystery of reincarnation - or is it just another dream infused perfume?

The Book of Lost Fragrances fuses history, passion, and suspense, moving from Cleopatra's Egypt and the terrors of revolutionary France to Tibet's battle with China and the glamour of modern-day Paris. Jac's quest for the ancient perfume someone is willing to kill for becomes the key to understanding her own troubled past.

M.J. Rose is a skilled writer and a remarkable storyteller. Using Cleopatra’s lost book of fragrance formulas as a stepping stone, Rose spins a tale replete with stunning twists and compelling characters that will keep readers turning the pages late into the night.

About the Author:

M.J. Rose is the international bestselling author of eleven novels: Lip Service, In Fidelity, Flesh Tones, Sheet Music, Lying In Bed, The Halo Effect, The Delilah Complex, The Venus Fix, The Reincarnationist, The Memorist, and The Hypnotist. The Book of Lost Fragrances will be published in March 2012. Rose is also the co-author with Angela Adair Hoy of How To Publish And Promote Online, and with Doug Clegg on Buzz Your Book.

Rose is a founding member and board member of International Thriller Writers and the founder of the first marketing company for authors: AuthorBuzz.com, as well as the co-founder of Peroozal.com and the popular website BookTrib.com.

Rose has been profiled in Time magazine, Forbes, The New York Times, Business 2.0, Working Woman, Newsweek and New York Magazine. Rose has appeared on "The Today Show," Fox News, "The Jim Lehrer News Hour" and features on her have appeared in dozens of magazines and newspapers in the U.S. and abroad, including USA Today, Stern, L'Official, Poets and Writers and Publishers Weekly.

Creative Director Julie Vacca

VACCA, a fashion forward women’s label from the Italian fashion house, Domenico Vacca, is only in its sophomoric collection and is already garnering buzz for its exuberant colors, prints and use of luxurious fabrics and skins. In the October, 2011 issue of ISOLA Magazine, a luxury lifestyle publication from Qatar, Julie Vacca, the creative director of VACCA, personally models the Fall/Winter 2011 collection in a spread with a title that perfectly suits the magnificent collection, “Blaze of Glory.”

The article, which was photographed in New York City and stylized by Julie’s son and business partner, Robert Vacca, which displays the artistry and wearability of each piece in the collection. From the glamorous blue velvet gown with faille trimming to the white oxford cotton pleated tuxedo shirt with gold press buttons, it is apparent that the VACCA collection effortlessly blends femininity with menswear inspired silhouettes to create original designs.

Visuals of Julie donning a stunning red jersey gown accessorized with a blue fox fur shawl and multi layered 18-carat gold necklace epitomizes the classic luxury of the VACCA line with its innovative touches.

While one item in the VACCA line can exude seductive, classic glamour, another demonstrates powerful femininity as displayed by Julie when modeling the caramel Napa leather jacket paired with a white oxford cotton dress shirt and caramel Napa leather pants; the outfit is completed with a 12-carat diamond ring in a platinum setting.

While VACCA is a young fashion house, it has become apparent that the designs have a classic appeal with an edgier style that will continue to make waves in the fashion industry.

BILL AND GIULIANA CELEBRATE VEGAS FASHION

Bill And Giuliana Rancic

“E! News” and “Fashion Police” host Giuliana Rancic, and her husband Bill hosted Las Vegas’ fashion’s elite at Fashion's Night Out at The Shoppes at The Palazzo on Thursday evening.

The couple started the evening by shopping and mingling at a private reception at Barneys New York before arriving to the shops full of cheering fans.

Raving that Las Vegas is the ultimate shopping mecca; the couple said The Shoppes at The Palazzo is one of their all-time favorite places to shop since all of Guiliana's favorite brands are under one roof including Barneys New York and Christian Louboutin.

The fashionable couple arrived in style as Giuliana looked stunning in a plunging plum Diane von Furstenberg dress and statement necklace while Bill looked dapper in a pinstriped tailored Dolce & Gabbana suit. As Bill posed on the red carpet, Giuliana egged him on, shouting, “Handsome! Love that GQ look, baby!”

When asked about hosting the special evening, Giuliana exclaimed, “This is our first time doing Fashion’s Night Out in Vegas and you guys are doing it right. All of these people here – it’s great! I love celebrating fashion. I go to Barneys New York to see what I should be wearing.”

Commenting on the hottest fall trends, Giuliana said, “It’s all about the structured handbag for fall and a more professional look. Fur on shoes is a very hot look right now and tea length dresses are in.”

Giuliana shared her secret fashion tips: “When you’re wearing a strapless dress, use duct tape!” and “Shoes – the higher, the better!”

When asked if she would ever be a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars,” Giuliana quipped, “no, but I would love to do ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ and take the crown from Bill!’

Giulana and Bill led the crowd through their top five coveted items for fall including bracelets from Links of London, a colorful chameleon bag from Fendi, black hair calf kitten heels from Cole Haan, a blue paisley men’s shirt from Billionaire Italian Coutoure and fur stilettos from Christian Louboutin. The crowd was then treated to a fashion show featuring top three head-to-toe looks with signature items from Diane von Furstenberg, Canali, 7 For All Mankind and Chloe.

During a Q&A session with the audience, a guest asked about her favorite look on Bill to which Giuliana joked, "in a towel getting out of the shower," before saying that she fell in love with Bill watching him on 'The Apprentice' so she loves him in a tailored suit.

Giuliana and Bill concluded the evening by picking out shoes and purses for the lucky mom and daughter duo who won a $2,000 shopping spree before heading to The Venetian’s famed gondolas where Bill tried his hand as a gondolier.
