A new addition to the contemporary wine bar scene, showcases its comprehensive selection using dramatic wine walls resembling a wine cellar and displaying nearly 1,500 varieties of wines from around the world. This new downtown wine haven located on the ground floor of the Gwathmey Siegel apartment complex at 26 Astor Place, features exotic cheeses, charcuterie, foie gras and an assortment of amazing desserts and chocolates sourced from some of the best purveyors in the New York City metro area including D’Artagan, Murray’s Cheese, and Bouchon Bakery.
Owner Camille Glickman teamed up with Richard Bloch, a James Beard Award-winning architect and principal of RBA, an interior design firm in New York City, to create the perfect wine bar. The result is a cleanly-designed space that is unique, contemporary and subtly elegant. Master Sommelier, Fred Dexheimer has also contributed his expertise and experience to the creation of bahr |ché. Well known in the industry, Dexheimer is credited as a taster, commentator, contributor, panelist, and is featured in many of the world's leading wine publications including “The New York Times”, “Food and Wine,” “Wine and Spirits,” “Wine Spectator,” “Beverage Media,” “Food Arts,” “Sommelier Journal” and “Wine Enthusiast”.
