This past weekend over 4,000 actors met at Hammerstein Ballroom on 34th Street in NYC for the annual Actorfest 2010. This was a great opportunity for beginners and seasoned professionals to participate in casting calls, “Meet and Drop” with popular casting directors, and to attend workshops hosted by industry professionals. Dozens of photographers, acting teachers, plus products and services were available in a huge, but cramp exhibit hall. Attendees were able to get information about headshots, auditions and callbacks, and learned all the new media, including: websites, podcasts, and DVD demo reels. Fellow working actors Diana Pou, Chris Dunn and Emanuel Sylvano met up and shared fist bumps. Diana just appeared in the Levy Master “Twister Lover” music video, sang for Arthur Laurent’s for the role of Maria in West Side Story and just worked with Emanuel Sylvano on “CSI-NY” on the real streets of New York – West Broadway and Leonard Street. Emanuel also ran into fellow actors at Actorfest from the film “When in Rome,” the TV show “Mercy” and Madonna’s film “W.E.” where Emanuel played an auctioneer at Manhattan’s Sotheby’s. The Spanish TV network Telemundo invited both Diana and Emanuel for call-backs. Chris Dunn just worked on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Chris would make a great NYC cop…“Blue Bloods” call him please. For our friends on the West Coast, Actorfest will be in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 6, 2010, register at www.actorfest.com.
